Can you imagine using a Time Machine for the purpose of learning about the history of music listening devices?
The piece “A Journey Through Sound” does exactly this.
I speak to my experience as a music lover, my observations of how my Gen Z peers listen to music in today’s digital age, my thorough research is learning about the history of both music and audio technology, and most notably, taught me the importance of using sound to tell a story. The idea for this piece came from my failed New Year’s Resolution, to listen to one new music album every single week. I was frustrated with the fact that I couldn’t even listen to a song an entire way through, let alone listen to an entire album.
In short, this piece compiles music history, comedic timing, sound effects, and how streaming platforms have forever changed listening culture.
